UGC for hotels: content through guests’ eyes

Travellers often decide on Instagram and TikTok where to stay. Hotel UGC shows your property the way guests experience it – and that is exactly what makes people want to book.

In short: hotel UGC means Reels, photos and drone footage that show your property through guests’ eyes. It feels like a recommendation rather than a brochure and works as ads, on social media, on the website and on booking platforms.

How hotel UGC differs from classic hotel content

Classic hotel photos show empty, perfectly lit rooms. UGC shows the same rooms with people in them: arriving, opening the curtains, having breakfast on the balcony. The goal is not the most beautiful picture but the feeling of already being there.

In the feed, the difference is obvious. A vertical video with a person walking through the room looks like the content travellers watch anyway. A brochure photo looks like advertising.

Formats that work for hotels

  • Room tour: from opening the door to the view from the window, in one take or with quick cuts.
  • Arrival: check-in, welcome drink, the first look into the room.
  • A day at the hotel: breakfast, pool or spa, dinner – as a short sequence.
  • Surroundings: beach, old town, nearby excursions. Many people book the destination, not just the room.
  • Drone footage: location, grounds and surroundings in one shot. Ideal as an opening for Reels and for the website.
  • Photos: for booking platforms, social media and press, with people in the frame instead of empty rooms.

Where to use hotel UGC

  • Ads on Meta and TikTok: Reels through guests’ eyes as ads, with variants for new audiences and retargeting.
  • Your own channels: Instagram, TikTok and Stories, with a steady flow of new material.
  • Website: drone video as the header, short clips on the room pages.
  • Booking platforms and press: photos that show what a stay feels like.

How an on-site shoot works

  1. Request and dates: you describe your property and your target guest, and you agree on dates and length of stay.
  2. Shot list: before arrival, it is clear which scenes, drone routes and photos will be created, so nothing is missing on site.
  3. Stay and shoot: filming happens as guests, during normal operations and with as little disruption as possible.
  4. Delivery: edited Reels, drone footage and photos, ready to use.

Before you use UGC, it should be clear what you may use it for: organic, as ads, on booking platforms, for how long and in which countries. Recognisable guests and staff may only appear with their consent. Drone flights are subject to their own rules depending on the country, which need to be checked in advance.

FAQ

What is UGC for hotels?

Videos and photos that show a hotel from a guest’s point of view: arrival, room, breakfast, pool, surroundings. They run as ads, on social media, on the website and on booking platforms.

What does hotel UGC cost?

That depends on the model. With us, hotel content works in exchange for accommodation, with no production fee.

May other guests appear in the video?

Recognisable guests and staff only with their consent. On our shoots, we are the guests in front of the camera ourselves, so operations stay undisturbed.
